College baseball players come from all over the U.S. to play summer collegiate baseball with the Clarinda A's in Clarinda, Iowa.  This unique program places the players in the homes of local families.  The Clarinda A's team has played since 1955 and gives the players a taste of minor league ball while playing the M.I.N.K. league.  A's players who continued on to the majors include: Ozzie Smith, Von Hayes, Bud Black, Darrell Miller, Mark Williamson and Chuck Knoblauch.  Baseball Hall of Fame recipient, Ozzie Smith, is featured on the 2002 Clarinda Christmas ornament.  Ozzie Smith got his start in collegiate baseball playing for the Clarinda A’s.  There are only a few ornaments remaining.  A portion of the proceeds go to the Clarinda A’s program.
