Copper Byzantine Bracelet
Description
Wear a bit of history on your wrist! Chainmaille (pronounced “chain mail”) dates back to ancient times, and was primarily used for armor and decorative items. Today, I utilize these ancient weaves to create unique jewelry for men and women.
The handcrafted Copper Byzantine Bracelet is created using copper wire that has been carefully cut into individual jump rings and hand woven in the beautiful Byzantine weave. No soldering of the rings is required – careful and precise construction ensures your bracelet will not only be beautiful, but will last a life time.
This bracelet closes with a forged Swan clasp made entirely of copper wire and is 8" in length.
Untreated copper jewelry will oxidize with exposure to air and humidity, causing the metal to change color from bright pink-brown to warm brown tones. Persons with a high acid content in their chemical make up may find a green/black residue on skin contact surfaces after wearing untreated copper jewelry. This residue is usually removed easily with soap and water.
The copper in this bracelet is untreated, and will oxidize over time. While I love the rich tones of oxidized copper, some prefer the "new penny" color. Restore the color by dipping your bracelet in a solution of 1 cup white vinegar and 1 teaspoon salt that have been mixed together. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and dry.
To care for your copper jewelry, store in a zippered plastic bag when not wearing, and limit exposure to humidity and water.
Length is 8” (includes clasp)
Width is approximately 1/4”
