Oh! It’s Spring! Quartz Earrings
Description
"Oh! It's Spring" Fine Silver and Quartz Earrings. Fun, flirty and colorful, these earrings will lift your spirits every time you wear them!
The dangles were created using fine (.999) silver. Fine silver wire is formed into rings, which are fused, shaped into ovals, and hammered for texture. The stones are hung directly from the sterling (.925) silver earwires using fine silver head pins forged in my studio.
Stones are quartz wheels that have been heat treated to achieve the pretty shades of pastel yellow, pink, blue and lavender.
The dangles on the earrings are approximately 5/8” from top to bottom, and just under 1/2” across the widest section of the oval.
Pure silver is too soft for general use, so additional metals (usually copper) are used to strengthen the metal. Fine silver is .999 parts silver and .001 parts alloy, while sterling silver is .925 parts silver and .075 parts alloy.
The fine silver used in the dangles will resist tarnishing, but may appear less shiny after repeated wear due to environmental deposits. The sterling silver ear wires will tarnish over time, this is a natural reaction of the alloys to oxygen. Remove tarnish and environmental deposits from both fine and sterling silver using a polishing cloth or mild liquid jewelry cleaner.
To care for your silver jewelry, store in a zippered plastic bag when not wearing, and limit exposure to humidity and water.
Length is 5/8” (dangle only)
Width is approximately 1/2”
