Greenfield, the town seat of Adair County, Iowa, was founded in 1856, and the name Greenfield was apparently chosen because of the green and luxuriant location.   Today, more than 2,100 people enjoy living in the town of Greenfield in the rolling hills of southwestern Iowa.

The Greenfield Chamber of Commerce/Main Street and Development Corporation invests in the town’s commercial, tourism, community and industrial development.  In 1996, Greenfield became one of Iowa’s 40 Main Street communities.  This program encourages investment in downtowns and spurs the rehabilitation of historic structures, which in turn provides space for new business and creates new jobs for local citizens.

Greenfield's people and businesses invite you to come and visit our community and see our pride and experience our hospitality.
